Conditions

  • The Association reserves the right to alter its fees

  • Full payment will be due if a cancellation is received within 3 calendar months of the date of booked arrival

  • Full payment is due and must be received 1 calendar month in advance of the arrival date

  • Exclusive use, this means no one else will be booked into the Centre

  • In the event of cancellation by you, a deposit will only be refunded at the discretion of the Committee

  • The Association is not liable for any 3rd party costs incurred due to cancellations by any party

  • Parties can arrive any time after 4pm on their day of arrival (other times will require arrangement with the Warden)

  • Parties are required to depart the Centre by 10:30am on the day of departure (or by arrangement with Warden)

  • Like most hostels, we expect users to clean the Centre and leave it as found. A set of cleaning cards will be made available to you or your group leader.

  • If you don’t have the time or energy to do the cleaning, the Warden can offer a cleaning service after you leave for an additional charge.

  • Lost property will be held for a while, if you think you have left something contact the Warden as soon as possible. After a reasonable period, we may need to dispose of it.

  • On arrival, please locate the Warden.

  • The car park is multi-use, so please park respectfully.

  • Parking is NOT permitted on forest tracks.

  • Dogs are welcome at Gillerthwaite, but please be respectful of others if you bring your dog. Remember not everyone is comfortable with dogs and ensure they are trained to be around or kept away from the livestock and other pets that live at the Centre.

  • Dogs are NOT allowed in the Centre buildings, except the barn where they must be tethered or kept in a suitable enclosure.

  • Please keep your dog(s) on a leash around the Centre and you absolutely MUST clean up after them.

  • Collapsible cages are available for use inside the barn, please consult the Warden if you wish to bring your own cage/kennel to keep in the barn.

  • Group leaders and/or parents must enter everyones names on the Fire List in the lounge near the front door. If the alarm is raised, assemble in the car park. The Warden may not always be around or be able to hear the alarm from another building.

  • Please be advised, and ensure everyone is aware, as we generate our own power, we have limited capacity for hair dryers or other heated appliances.

  • Tins, bottles, and plastics must be taken away with you, the local council does not offer recycling collection in this remote area

  • Driving is not permitted beyond the turning area by the Youth Hostel

  • Driving is not encouraged on the forest track.
